Meet Our Staff
Valdosta is a community like no other and I have been blessed to call it home all my life. I graduated from Valdosta High School, where I played both basketball and baseball. After high school, I went on to study business at Valdosta State University. I played baseball for the Blazers and was drafted to play in the minor leagues for a short period. I graduated in 2005 with a Bachelors of Business Administration in Finance.
Once I finished playing ball, I came back to Valdosta and began helping with our family business. It has been such a blessing to be able to work alongside my father for the past 15 years running Smitty's Package Stores in Valdosta and Lake Park. Working in retail has provided me with many experiences to work and interact with people from all walks of life.
I love the Valdosta community and have recently realized that I want to do more to serve this area. I want to see Valdosta grow and prosper. I want it to be an area where my children can grow up and find good jobs. I don't want them to have to rely on moving to a bigger city for more opportunities. I want them to have all the opportunities they need right here in South Georgia. It is my hope that Valdosta community will be the safest and best place to live and work in all of South Georgia.
This area has so much to offer and there are so many great things we can do to help the community continue to grow and be prosperous. I believe that if the community can come together to help address any areas of need, we can achieve great things.
With that being said, we do have friends and neighbors around us who are in need of assistance. In reality, we are all just one job loss, one sickness, or one accident away from needing support and help. We have to fight to keep the American dream alive and to help our friends and neighbors in need.
I believe that the United Way can be the bridge that connects local businesses, charities, individuals, and government officials. Together we can continue to help support and meet the needs of the people in Valdosta. It takes money, time, communication, and efficiency but it can be done if we work together.
