Moody Airmen Volunteer with Greater Valdosta United Way Day of Caring
It was a chance to give back to the community when Airmen from Moody Air Force Base volunteered at 14 local nonprofit agencies as part of the Greater Valdosta United Way Day of Caring on May 9, 2022.
More than 245 Moody Airmen gave their time and talents to complete various projects, including landscaping and yard work, painting, food sorting, gardening, and carpentry work.
“This was the first of its kind Day of Caring that featured only Moody volunteers,” said GVUW Executive Director Michael Smith. “Moody always participates in the Day of Caring, and the Airmen work so hard that nonprofits love it when Moody personnel are assigned to them. This time, every project received some Moody support and effort.”
The GVUW Day of Caring occurs twice a year (spring and fall) and connects hundreds of volunteers to community nonprofits throughout multiple South Georgia counties.
“It’s always an excellent opportunity for people to give back to the community,” Smith said. “Volunteers enjoy working on the projects and connecting with the nonprofits and seeing the positive impact they are making throughout the region.”
