Valdosta Day of Caring in Valdosta Magazine
Volunteers from local businesses joined the Greater Valdosta United Way’s partner agencies for the annual “Day of Caring” this past summer. The Day of Caring is a day where people give back and show how to do good through helping one another and families in need. The day also increases the awareness of the local nonprofit groups.
It was one of the largest Days of Caring that brought out many more volunteers than there has been before. To begin the Day of Caring, people shared breakfast on the Courthouse lawn, which was then followed by the volunteers assisting with hands-on projects such as painting, cleaning, and landscaping.
Over 20 companies allowed their employees to have the day off to help volunteer and display how great of an impact that volunteer work has on the community. For 65 years and multiple generations, The Greater Valdosta United Way has had great success in helping change the lives of children, families, and seniors. The Greater Valdosta United Way works alongside 19 non-profit organizations, spanning over 5 counties, to make a difference through events like the Day of Caring.
