Publix Super Markets Donates $250,000

Publix Super Markets Charities is donating $250,000 to the American Red Cross and United Way to assist relief efforts for areas impacted by Hurricane Dorian.

Publix is also beginning a register campaign that allows customers to help those affected during the storm by donating any amount during checkout at any of their stores. All the donated funds will be given to the American Red Cross, which will allow the American Red Cross to respond and assist people in recovering from this disaster. The program’s end will be determined by customer donation.

Maria Brous, director of media and community relations discussed how Dorian affected people and how Publix is proud to help people in need. Publix is privately owned and operated by its more than 200,000 employees, and currently, Publix has 1,226 stores in Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, South and North Carolina, and Virginia.

For 22 straight years, the company has been named one of Fortune’s 100 Best Companies to Work For, and Publix ranked first on Fortune’s inaugural list of Best Big Companies to Work For in 2019.
