GVUW Board Appoints Executive Director
VALDOSTA, 28 June --- The Board of Directors of the Greater Valdosta United Way (GVUW) is pleased to announce Michael Smith as its new Executive Director
“On behalf of the GVUW Board of Directors, we could not be more excited for the energy and leadership Michael brings to the agency. Michael possesses a genuine passion for helping others that is unmatched. If you are unfamiliar with the Greater Valdosta United Way, expect an encounter this coming year. The future is bright for GVUW.” Jonathan Miller GVUW Board Chair.
“I am so excited about working with United Way,” said Smith. “I believe that the United Way can be the bridge that connects local businesses, charities, individuals, and government officials. Together along with the board and staff we can continue to help support and meet the needs of the people in Berrien, Brooks, Echols, Lanier, and Lowndes Counties. It takes money, time, communication, and efficiency but it can be done, if we work together.”
A lifelong resident of Lowndes County, Michael Smith has a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from Valdosta State University. He has served and is still serving in leadership roles in both the local non-profit and private sectors, and is a successful business owner.
Michael is married to Kori Smith and they have two daughters; Aubrey, 9 and Mary Allen, 8. He enjoys running, working out, traveling with family, reading, and watching movies. Michael is actively involved with his church and loves serving the community of Valdosta.
